Hot Rod Institute Diploma Programs

Hot Rod Institute is the alternative to the typical automotive school.  We focus solely on hot rods and custom motorcycles, we do not offer training for the repair industry or try to mix the two. Hot Rod Institute has six different classes for the student to choose from in this specialized industry. Hot Rod Chassis Fabrication

HRC will teach you to use the tools and equipment utilized in the specialty vehicle industry to fabricate safe and functional frame and suspension setups. Often the first class in a student’s Diploma Program, Hot Rod Chassis covers both general fabrication techniques and automotive/motorcycle frames. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities. Hot Rod Body Fabrication

HRB will teach you both automotive and motorcycle custom sheet metal fabrication. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities, including studying the skills necessary to design and fabricate custom sheet metal panels. Student will learn to use the tools of the professional sheet metal fabricator. Bag and mallet, English wheel, bead roller, power hammer and pullmax machine are all explored. Student will also learn to use the planishing hammer, shrinker/stretcher, hammer forms, and venerable combination of the hammer & dolly. » read more

Hot Rod Refinishing

HRR will teach you the skills to bring a project to a finished work of art, complete with a truly amazing - high quality - paint job. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities. HRR is all about learning the final body work and refinishing techniques for that show car finish. If custom paint is your thing, then this is also the class for you. You will learn candy and pearl paints along with airbrushing techniques. We will even cover hand pin striping to help finish off those cool custom graphics. » read more

Hot Rod Performance

HRP will teach you the mechanical aspects of the hot rodding process. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities. Students will explore the automotive drive train including engine theory, both automatic and manual transmissions, and rear-end differential design characteristics. » read more

Hot Rod Upholstery

HRU will teach you the aspects of interior trim design and fabrication. Students will learn automotive trim terminology, supplies used in the trade, sewing machine operation, basic seams and insert designs. The procedures for seat construction, seat repairs, seat reconstruction, spring repair, foam repair and seat cover repairs will all be covered. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities. » read more

Hot Rod Motorcycle

HRM will teach you the mechanical aspects of custom motorcycle fabrication and assembly. Hot Rod Motorcycle covers the skills needed to build a custom bike from the frame up. Students will gain valuable experience from lecture and extensive lab (hands-on) opportunities. We have scheduled the tasks to follow the process in which a high end custom bike shop would build a bike. » read more
